【摘要】:1EquipmentThisPartofBS5440specifiestheselection,design,installationandmaintenancerequirementsforfluesystemswhichformpartofaneworreplacementapplianceinstallationfordomesticorcommercialpurposes.Italsospecifiesrequirementsforconnectinggasappliancestoexistingflues.ItspecifiesnaturalandfanneddraughtfluesforapplianceswhichcarrytheCEmark,utilize1st,2ndor3rdfamilygasesandhaveratedheatinputsbasedonnet(lower)CalorificValue(CV)notexceeding70kW.ItmayalsobeusedforinstallationsofapplianceswhichdonotcarrytheCEmark,e.g.usedappliances,whereappropriate,providingtheappliancemanufacturer'sinstructionsareavailable.Insuchcircumstances,theinstallershouldensurethattheapplianceissafeinconstructionandcondition,andcanbeusedwithoutconstitutingadanger.Theratingof70kWappliestoanindividualapplianceconnectedtoafluesystemand,inthecaseofmorethanoneapplianceinthesameroomconnectedtoafluesystem,tothesumoftheratings.Forsharedflues,e.g.Se-ductsorU-ducts,theratingappliestotheindividualapplianceratingperdwelling.Thisstandarddealswiththecompleteflueequipmentfromtheapplianceconnection,tothedischargepointintooutsideair.Italsocoversfluesthatwereintendedoriginallyforappliancesburningotherfuelsbutwhicharesubsequentlyusedforgasappliances.ThisstandarddoesnotspecifyfluesystemsfordecorativefueleffectfireswhicharespecifiedinBS5871-3.Thisstandardspecifiesresidentialparkhomesbutnotleisureaccommodationvehicles.ThelatterarecoveredbyprEN1949orIGEdocumentUP/8[7].NOTE1Therangeofapplianceshasbeenamendedfrom60kWbasedongrossCVinthepreviousversionofthisstandardto70kWbasedonnetCVinordertoachievecompatibilitywiththegasapplianceproductstandards.Forinformationonfluesforapplianceshavingratedinputsexceeding70kW,referenceshouldbemadetoBS6644.AlthoughthepresentscopeofBS6644includestherange60kWgrossto70kWnet,thispartofBS5440shouldbeusedforfluesinthatrangesinceitcomprisesthemostup-to-datespecification.NOTE2Thisstandarddoesnotcovergas-firedincinerators.Suchappliancesrequirespecialconsiderationsbecauseofthehighfluegastemperaturestheygenerate.ForspecificinformationonincineratorsseeBS3813-1.NOTE3Theinstallershouldcheckthedatagivenwithanappliancetoestablishthebasisonwhichtheheatinputisgiven.Thedatainthisstandardreferstoheatinputexpressedintermsofnetcalorificvalues(CV)withconversiongivenfornaturalgasgrossCVquotedinbracketswhereappropriate.Theratioofgross:netheatinputisapproximately1.11:1fornaturalgas,1.09:1forpropaneand1.08:1forbutane.Forexample,convert9kWinputbasedongrossCVfornaturalgastotheequivalentnetCVinputasfollows:Netinput=9.0/1.11=8.1kW2CompetencyItisessentialthatpersonscarryingouttheinstallationofanygasapplianceanditsfluebecompetenttodoso,and,inthecaseofanyworkthatissubjecttothecurrentGasSafety(InstallationandUse)Regulations[1],itisessentialtocomplywiththeseregulations.Itisessentialthatpersonswhodesignthefluesystemshouldhavetheknowledgeandunderstandingofthestandardsandregulationsthatapplytoensurethatthecompletedplanswillproduceasafeandsatisfactoryinstallation.COMMENTARYANDRECOMMENDATIONSON1.2.Atthetimeofpublication,thebodywithHSEapprovaltooperateandmaintainaregisterofbusinesseswhoare"membersofaclassofpersons"istheCouncilforRegisteredGasInstallers(CORGI).ThusitisessentialthatallbusinessorselfemployedgasfittersshouldberegisteredwithCORGI.GuidanceontheindividualcompetencyrequiredforgasworkisgivenintheHealthandSafetyCommission'sApprovedCodeOf
