【摘要】:ThisBritishStandardgivesrecommendationsforremedialtreatmentsandalliedprocessesforuseintheconservationofdocumentsthathavealongtermvalueandareheldinarchives,librariesorprivatecollections.Itisnotapplicabletophotographs,worksofartonpaperorelectronicmedia.NOTEInformationaboutthestorageofvariouskindsofphotographicmaterialisgiveninBS1153.PhotographicfilmofarchivalqualityisspecifiedinBS5699-1andBS5699-2.Thestandardisapplicabletotreatmentsthatmightbenecessarytoensurethecontinuedpreservationofpaper,parchmentandseals.Methodsoftreatmentareexplainedindetailonlyifinformationaboutthemisnoteasilyavailableelsewhere.TheserecommendationsapplytotheconservationofdocumentsintheUnitedKingdombutmightbeappropriateforothercountrieswithsimilar,temperateclimates.
